We're Changing the Face of TV

We're a group of like-minded people who watch prime time TV shows, give them a SizeFriendly grade, and agitate for change. we're part of Nation of Size - an organization pushing for a SizeFriendly world.

Millions of us watch TV for entertainment and indirectly get all sorts of messages from what we see. Like it or not, what gets shown on TV influences our society and our culture. If TV isn’t Size Friendly, how can we expect the real world to be? Furthermore, if we don’t see complex, varied, non-stereotypical portrayals of people of size on the screen, how are we supposed to feel about ourselves? With no validation, we are more likely to have a negative view of our lives and potential.

Our ongoing review of almost 30 prime time shows reveals that characters of size represent less than 8% of the total characters we see on TV, yet 66% of the US adult population is overweight (and about half of that group is considered obese).

Join us and together - let's change the face of TV
